I'm Back!

Whew! I didn't realize it had been so long since I had last posted on here! Well, I am just going to recap everything that has happened this past few weeks, because it was alot!

I got a job on the base-in accounting, soooo fast, which was a total shocker! I never expected to get a job so quick! So, I started my job while we were still living in the TLF (temporary lodging facility) which was hectic enough. That first week that I started, we got our house on the Friday! We were worried that we wouldn't get all of our stuff until the following Monday since we couldn't technically have the keys untill 10AM on Friday morning, but Adam smooth talked the movers into bringing it Friday and he would help them unload. (I was at work) We wanted to get it on that Friday that way we could spend the weekend unpacking and getting things organized-instead of waiting until the next Monday or Tuesday (the week of July 4th). So, we got all of our stuff, worked on unpacking it all, got a little tired and completely bored from unpacking so we decided to run down to Palm Springs (which is about an hour drive-"down the hill" to civilization ;) We intitially were only going down there to eat and just relax on Saturday afternoon BUT-we ended up buying patio furniture, a lawn mower, and a fountain for Adam's "Outdoor Oasis" because we have such a big patio! So, $500 later we were heading back up the hill to 29 Palms. (We also went to Wal-Mart to get some miscellaneous stuff). So, we unpacked some more and worked on the outside. We even bought some grass seed, for the backyard area so we could green it up a little bit.

The next week went by, my 2nd week at work-we just worked more on the inside-unpacking and just getting things set up and taken out of the boxes. We found out the hard way that if you leave boxes in the garage-just over night RATS will get in them! We didn't find one IN a box, but there were rat droppings inside of the box. One afternoon Adam had just arrived at home and I was pulling into the drive-way, when out pops a BIG rat right in my garage space!! I stopped before entering the garage and screamed for Adam to kill it-he was on the phone with Brian and was looking at me like I was crazy at first (he wasn't completely out of the car yet). He kicked the rat and it died, then he put it in the road! EWWWW!! It was nasty. There are some LARGE bugs here as you will see below.

So towards the end of the week Adam started feeling badly. He slept soo much Thursday and Friday (in between working and eating) which I was upset about because he was leaving on Tuesday for 3 months AND we were going to LA to pick up my mom and Cooper from the airport on Saturday. He slept the WHOLE way to the airport-he felt HORRIBLE, I could tell. We picked up my mom and Cooper and at first that little chicken didn't even recognize us!! Then he did. He did good on the flight and so did my mom! They left a little bit early so we could get back to 29 before the fireworks show.

That weekend Adam didn't feel like doing anything! Poor boy I felt bad for him. Tuesday, got here and it was time to say "goodbye" :( We left early Tuesday morning to take him to Palm Springs and I get back to work by 7:30, we made it perfect though! It was sad, but he was starting to feel better so that worked out good. BUT I was starting to feel bad! Which only got worse as the week progressed. My poor mom wanted to go do things and see stuff and I just felt like crap the rest of the week. We wanted to go to the beach that next weekend, but it had to be a dog friendly hotel because of little Coop. Luckily, we found one and by Friday I was feeling better, my mom made the reservation for us at Redondo Beach and we left as soon as I got off of work at 3! The hotel looked scary at first, but then at night it looked better. ( I don't know if that is good or bad?) Cooper liked it! lol We stayed until Sunday and then came back.

That next week we just hung out and checked out 29 Palms, my friend invited us over for dinner at her house one night which was totally sweet! We went to check out Joshua Tree National Park and got some pics of the desert landscape and just stuff like that. Friday night we went to Palm Springs to eat mexican food, check out the mall, and go to El Paseo (NICE shops and pretty outdoor shopping areas).

This was at 49 Palms Oasis, well we got to the trail and mom saw the "beware of snakes" sign and said mmmmm I don't think so, so we just checked out the view!

The next day, Saturday she had to leave :( On the way to the airport we stopped at the Cabazon Outlets - which were totally nice! and then were off to the airport. There is a chick-fil-a that I saw last time on the way there, that I was going to get some lunch at but I coudln't find it :( So, I dropped her off and was super sad! :( Everyone has left me now!!! I am all alone for 10 weeks.

This is what happens frequently here, because of the altitude changes and differences in height, we don't EVER get rain (I haven't seen rain in OVER 4 months) :( Anyway, you can SEE the rain WAYYY off in the distance on the mountains BUT of course we get none! AND it looks like it is really close, but its FARR!
