Heaven!

This is Heaven

This is what I looked like while I ate my YUMMY Klondike (Dark Chocolate) bar! I haven't had one of these in FOREVER!

I went into the Commissary today, because NOW I can since we have a refrigerator, an oven, a stove, and a kitchen table! We have moved into this Sleepy Tortoise (Temporary Lodging Facility, TLF) on the Base. No more Motel 6-at least I do not think? We are supposed to find out our address (of the on-base housing) on the 19th (this Friday) and then move-in on Friday the 26th (10 days!!) I CAN NOT wait!

I went to the Officer housing community today to go for a little run this morning and it was AWFUL!! I am SOO out of shape. I was still able to do right at 3 miles, but it was rough. For lunch, Adam and I went to the O club. It was nice and they were really quick with everything-and the food was GOOD!

After lunch, I had already checked us out of the Motel 6, we went to the Sleepy Tortoise to see if we could check in early (it was 1:00). I had called last night to confirm our reservation (because I am VERY paranoid and I didn't want to stay in Motel 6 ANY longer). Luckily, Adam came with me, because if he hadn't I may have come over the counter at the woman who was at the desk. She wasn't very nice and I was frustrated with her.

The woman I spoke with the day before, who confirmed our reservation, was extremely nice, and told me that check-in wasn't until 2 BUT if we were here and wanted to come early we could, and just see if the room was clean. I wasn't demanding with the front desk woman, I mean I understand there are procedures and rules, I'm not stupid. I was very polite and just asked if the room was available, she huffed, puffed and was very agitated when I asked. She said, "Check in is not until 2, you know", I followed with, "yes, I understand, I was told yesterday I could just check to see if the room was ready. I explained to her we have been in a hotel since we got here, that we left there this morning, have no where to go, BUT I told her that if it was too much of a HASSLE, I could just go to the Exchange and walk around, hang out and then come back after 2. I don't understand why some people want to be mean. It's just not necessary! :(

Here's the kicker: the room was clean! After she hassled me for a good 10 minutes, she said she "supposed the could give me the key"!? Whatever, I don't even care-I'm in the room and that's all that matters. When we left, we discussed all the people we have met here that aren't very nice-not necessarily Marines, just people who are working in places we have been in. On the other hand, there have been some AWESOME people we have met also!

One of the lieutenants Adam met, is married and his wife, Margot, got a packet together for us of information all on the Base! It was so sweet of her to do that, there is a listing of all the hotels in the area, prices, and everything you would want to know about 29 Palms! We are so grateful to her.

So, here is some pictures of our room at the Sleepy Tortoise Lodge

There are two beds. One is a twin size and the other is a full or Queen.
This is a view of the little dining area, yes we have a table, and there is Internet in here also!

Here is the Kitchen area! yay! This is my favorite part of the whole room!

The fridge is SUPER cute

Obviously, this view of the kitchen is before I went to the commissary to get us some, non-fast food, non greased up food! :) If I have to eat one more fast food item I think I may just quit eating all together. And since I can count the fast food places here on one hand, that makes it even worse!

I was about to end, but Adam just came home and called me to let me know this little baby was outside our door, and check out the grass....

He ran off after I the door slammed, but he was adorable!
