First off, I think when I left off, Adam and I hadn't found out where we were going to get stationed. Now, we know. Let's recap. Here is the order that we put the stations in.
- Hawaii
- W. Coast
- E. Coast
- Japan
Ok, Adam came home on Friday the 17th, and still no duty station. Keep in mind that he graduates on May 14, so less than a month and we have no idea where we are going. I am stressed. He had to go back on Saturday and do some more work. He promised me he would find out on Saturday. He comes home, or well on the way home he calls and says, " Guess where we are going?" and by the way he said it, I knew it wasn't somewhere he was too excited about, and I knew, at that very moment 29 Palms, CA. LOL, but going back to earlier on Saturday-I knew that we were going to 29 Palms I had already prepared myself for it. I just "knew" it would be the Palms. So, Adam is freaking out about it because he says it will be wayyy worse than here in VA. I am excited and ready to see what its like to live in the desert :) Now, for those of you who do not know exactly where twentynine palms is click here.
Here is a link to the weather for twentynine palms. I am looking forward to it and I think it will be fun. (92277 zip code) Its 214.81 miles to Las Vegas (3.5 hrs.) (a little farther than I thought? Oh well), 142.41 miles to LA (2.5 hrs), and 175.31 miles to San Diego (3 hrs). (Just a little FYI-on average they get 4 inches of rain a year
Here is the website for MAGTFTC/MCAGCC (Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center), this is where Adam and I will be until 2012.
Ok, enough about that. Now all this last week I have been in Atlanta visiting my family, and going to a wedding. I was there from Monday the 20th-Sunday the 26th. I had a great time, my mom and friend Yaziri came on thursday night (they barely made it) and then we all left on Sunday. I loved getting to see them and have some "family time". I got searched at the airport in DC, I went through security fine with no problems, and was waiting at the gate to board the plane. I did get on an earlier flight and sat in the last row, we took off during a storm and it was a BUMPY flight. I was glad to be on the ground. Back to the security search-They called my boarding group and as I was walking to the gate I heard,"Maam step over here please" I was like ok. So, I went over and keep in mind this is AT THE GATE, I mean everyone who is riding on this flight is sitting down waiting to be called to board, so everyone sees me being searched. Which, by the way I think this is the first time I have ever not had a carry-on ALL I had was my purse. I was really confused why they chose me since I wasnt carrying anything?! So I am standing there I have to take off my shoes, give the my purse, take off my sweater spread my legs and she has to scan my whole body-meanwhile everyone is watching me be "searched". Ughhh It was totally funny and at first I was laughing at it, but then after like 5 min I was like ok...this is ridiculous. Oh well, I finally got on the plane and took off into the cloudy, gray, rainy sky!
Once on the ground my grandmother insisted on getting me from the airport with her "driver" He wanted to take us to try some Indian Food (which everyone who knows me, knows that I am NOT adventurous when it comes to trying new things) so I was cornered into doing this. We got a Roti, its like a wrap thing they have a fish one and a chicken one. He got us one of each.

This is what it looked like, the wrap is like a tortilla only thinner and flakier. We ate a small amount of this interesting wrap thing, and then went to Chik-Fil-A dwarf house. (they serve steaks and baked potatoes there!) Strange, I know!?
I took my Grandmother to see some of her friends and family in Peachtree City
This is her cousin who turns 100 in June!! She looked great and lived by herself!
This is her friend who worked at the railroad with her for over 30 years!
I think she had a great time, going around a visiting all of her friends! She doesn't drive down that far so it was a treat for her-I had fun too!
The wedding was Friday night in Duluth and it was super nice! Stacy looked beautiful, i can't believe I known her since I was born-crazy how time flies!

The food was great too, and they had something I had never heard of before-Shrimp and grits. This is what it looked like
It was a great time! We got back to my grandmother's house earlier than we thought we would. So, we all chatted and then went to bed!
It soon came time for us to leave, this was the last pic we took before leaving for the airport :( WE got the airport checked in, my flight left at 11:08 theirs at 1:55, so I landed at12:50 and they hadnt even left Atlanta yet!
